Marissa Lolli to appear in Malone University's (Canton, Ohio) production of "Our Town"

Theatre at Malone University will celebrate 50 years with a re-staging of the program’s first play, Our Town, October 11-12, and 14 through 16, at 8 p.m. in the Performing Arts Hall of Founders Hall, located on the campus at 2600 Cleveland Avenue N.W. in Canton. Cast members will include alumni and faculty as well as current Malone students.

Marissa Lolli, a sophomore from Canton, Ohio 44718, will be playing the part of Miss Ernestine Watson.

Curtain is at 8 p.m. each night, and tickets for all performances are $8; $2 for Malone University students. For more information, or to reserve tickets, call the box office at 330.471.8202.

In addition, a theatre alumni dinner will take place Saturday, October 12, at 5 p.m. in the Brehme Conference Center. Cost is $10 for adults; $5 for children ages 3-12; 2 and under free. An alumni dessert reception will precede the play from 7 – 8 p.m.. The reception is free, but a play ticket is required to attend.

The production will be directed by alumnus Lee Lavery, who played the town’s choirmaster in the 1963 production. After graduating in 1966, Lee taught theatre arts and English for 45 years, finishing his career as Theatre Arts Department chairman at Oakwood School in North Hollywood, California. Serving as stage manager is sophomore Jerrad Awwiller.

Our Town is a 1938 three-act play by American playwright Thornton Wilder. Set in the fictional American small town of Grover's Corners, it tells the story of an average town's citizens in the early twentieth century as depicted through their everyday lives. The play is performed without a set and the actors mime their actions without the use of props. Act I depicts “Daily Life;” Act II is titled, “Love and Marriage,” and Act III portrays, “Death and Eternity.”
