Laurel Weir is a Member of Malone University's Graduating Class of 2012

Malone University in Canton, Ohio, conducted its 120th commencement ceremony on Saturday, April 28, at Faith Family Church. Baccalaureate services were held the evening prior at the Johnson Center for Worship and the Fine Arts located on the campus at 2600 Cleveland Avenue NW in Canton.

Numbered among the 601 students eligible to participate was Laurel Weir, a Communication Arts major from Canton, OH (44705).

Baccalaureate speaker was the Reverend Fredrick Sams, a 1975 graduate of Malone University and senior pastor of Alliance Friends Church. Rev. Sams is district superintendent – Northeast Ohio District and a member of the executive board and secretary of the executive committee of the Evangelical Friends Church - Eastern Region.

Commencement speaker was Joan Mussa, senior vice president, mobilization, for World Vision. Mussa has provided World Vision U.S. with leadership in communications and fundraising for more than two decades. World Vision is a Christian relief, development, and advocacy organization dedicated to working with children, families, and communities to overcome poverty and injustice.

Malone University, a Christian university for the arts, sciences, and professions in the liberal arts tradition, affiliated with the Evangelical Friends Church, awards both undergraduate and graduate degrees in more than 100 academic programs.
