Allison Hammerle Inducted Into International Honor Society at Malone University

Top students in English were honored for their high academic achievement in ceremonies conducted by the Alpha Rho Iota chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the International English Honor Society. In the ceremony on October 16, 2012, 7 Malone University English majors and minors, writing majors and minors, and integrated language arts majors were recognized for their personal accomplishment and awarded lifetime membership certificates and membership pins.

The initiates included Allison Hammerle, a sophomore integrated language arts major from Conway, Pennsylvania (15027).

In addition, the following members serve as officers of Alpha Rho Iota:

Jessica Kincaid of Uniontown, president

Amy Miller of North Lawrence, vice-president

Erin Green of Sebring, secretary

Alyssa Mann of Massillon, treasurer

Michael Mills, historian

In addition to conferring distinction on outstanding students, Sigma Tau Delta promotes interest in literacy and literature on local campuses and in the surrounding community and fosters the discipline of English in all its aspects, including creative and critical writing. The Alpha Rho Iota chapter has recently been active in social events and a children's book donation to Aultman Pediatrics.

Malone University, a Christian university for the arts, sciences, and professions in the liberal arts tradition, affiliated with the Evangelical Friends Church, awards both undergraduate and graduate degrees in more than 100 academic programs.
